With the rising popularity of social media, travelling has moved on from being just a visual ecstasy to a photographic experience. While we head out to click some Instagram worthy pictures, we often forget that we might be harming the environment on our vacations. The pandemic has given us enough time to reflect about the need to plan a responsible travel tour.

Changing your relaxed vacation into a responsible travel tour is possible only if you consciously make decisions that benefit the locals and your holiday destination in the long run. You could plan a trip to Placer County, which is a 1,400 square-mile destination in Northern California. Following updates by California Department of Public Health and the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the county is now inviting responsible leisure travellers.

Since Covid cases are reasonably under control now, travellers have been permitted to enjoy their visit to places, including Olympic Valley, Foresthill, Auburn and Roseville. Since Placer County is just 20 minutes away from the major freeway at any point, it’s a great place to visit from the Sacramento, Reno, Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area.

As you head out for a responsible travel tour to the Placer County make sure you go for biking, hiking and horseback riding trails across the amazing landscapes. The county has a lot to offer in terms of bird watching, visiting the Gold Country’s foothills and rafting. You can get your own tent to camp nearby the Folsom, Rollins and Clementine lakes. But don’t forget to avoid littering.

You could also stop by one of the award winning local breweries in Historic Downtown Auburn and relish sipping some refreshing craft beer. You could also visit a local favourite and family-owned winery — Lone Buffalo Vineyard to taste varieties grown in the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges.

For a relaxed day out with family, you can head out to the High Hand Nursery & Café that has a great collection of beautiful plants. Since the café is placed right in the centre of the nursery, you won’t have to worry about social distancing.

To click some Instagram worthy pics on your responsible travel tour, you can visit the picturesque setting of Rocklin at Quarry Park. If you are travelling with your pets, you can stay over at the Best Western Golden Key that offer pet-friendly rooms too! For the corporate travellers out there, a visit to the Best Western, Roseville Inn will be ideal. The hotel has a separate meeting room and offers various business services.

Considering the ongoing situation, it is best to go for a responsible travel tour in small groups. Even though the World Travel and Tourism is working to ensure travellers’ safety and encourage international tourism, it is important to consider the seriousness of the situation and wear a mask at all times.
