Are you among the few travellers who like to spend their time wandering on serene streets and quiet places? Well, the best-kept secret of South America -Uruguay, will fulfill that desire for you. Best-known for its beautiful interiors, high-end cuisine and a plethora of activities, this country will surely be on every traveller’s future bucketlist.

Apart from going horse-riding with ‘gaucho’ cowboys in Tacuarembo and unwinding in hot springs near the Uruguay river, you can make your trip even memorable by staying at the famous hotel -Casapueblo.

Situated at a corner of the Uruguayan coast, the Casapueblo hotel speaks volumes about the 37-year long hardwork and dedication of a plastic artist, Carlos Paez Vilaro.

With a little help from the local fishermen, Paez Vilaro successfully completed Casapueblo, which now has a museum, restaurant, hotel and some apartments too. Initially meant as a simple wooden lodge that would be his living space, the hotel was soon equipped with extra rooms for Vilaro’s guests and friends.

Later, he opened these rooms to the public, which are now identified not by numbers, but by symbols that he himself drew.

At the end of each day just before sunset, the melodious voice of Vilaro can be heard on a sound system that plays a self-penned ode to the sun. Visitors at the Casapueblo hotel look forward to hearing the musical ode that is said to be quite pleasing to the ear.

A complete opposite of the Casapueblo is a peninsula resort, Punta del Este, which has an array of nightclubs, expensive restaurants, swish bars and yacht harbor for the times when you feel a little over the top.

So the next time you plan a trip to South America, make sure you witness live the beautiful craftsmanship of this Uruguay hotel and make the most of your vacation in its beautiful ambience.
