Countries Set up Remote Working Spots to Merge Business & Pleasure
Exquisite remote working spots have always been liked by those who follow their passion for travelling while aiming to fulfil work commitments. Ever since the pandemic marked its footsteps, the ‘travel while working’ concept has become quite popular, especially amongst digital nomads. For catering the rising demand, several hospitality groups have started setting up remote working spots equipped with all work-related amenities, including comfortable desks and internet facilities.
Many countries, including Aruba, Georgia, Estonia, Bermuda, Croatia are using similar kind of tac tics to lure digital nomads from all over the world. While some have rolled out special temporary visas, others have introduced cheap staycation packages.
Following this trend, Aruba has started a new program — ‘One Happy Workation’, which permits US travellers to enjoy three-month long visa-free stay on the island. Besides offering complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast, all-inclusive food facilities, this package allows working travellers to witness special local experiences live. The program serves people from all financial backgrounds, offering booking options from small hotels, large resorts to private villas.
One beautiful accommodation that has made its remote working spots a bit edgy for guests is the ‘Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba’. The hotel has setup two outdoor workstations wherein guests can do their work while enjoying scenic views. One fully equipped set up has been established near the beach, wherein a desk is covered by a palapa shade, another work desk is set under the palm leaves near the pool.
Speaking about this new program, the CMO of Aruba Tourism Authority — Sanju Luidens said “We recognise the desire to travel safely and have noticed a rising trend of visitors in Aruba extending their stays, so we knew the appetite for longer trips was growing. With many Americans working remotely, we curated the best workation experiences and deals to make it easier to not only work from paradise, but also experience living like a local”.
Various other hotels in Aruba are keen to boost their guest arrival numbers via attracting working travellers. A few names are: Courtyard by Marriot Aruba Resort, Divi Dutch Village Beach Resort, Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino and Amsterdam Manor.
In Croatia, remote workers can apply for one-year residence permit after arrival. Also, visitors do not need to have a tourist visa. The country’s new reforms were introduced in December 2020 as part of the foreigners’ law. Such long-term work stays are also being encouraged in Georgia. The country permits full-time employees, business owners and freelancers owning a minimum monthly salary of $2000 to stay for at least an year.
Since the pandemic has changed the future idea of remote working spots, candidates are looking for employers who are considering the mental wellbeing of their employees in such challenging times. The firms that will permit employees to work remotely are likely to get better results in the long-term. As of now, working amidst a scenic view is the best way to enjoy workations while keeping ourselves safe from the grasp of Covid-19.
