It is an undeniable fact that the virus has increased our hygiene awareness in every aspect. Clearly, vacationing post pandemic will be completely different from what it was earlier. Even though hotels around the world are paying special attention to maintain proper sanitation, there are some points which often go ignored. Check out some of these dirty hotel spots you should know about –

  1. TV/AC Remote

Having a big screen with premium channels in your hotel room is surely exciting to most of us. But be wary of the germs you catch while flipping those TV channels. TV Remote is surely one of many dirty hotel spots as it has been touched by hundreds of hands before you. Make a point to sanitise your TV and air-conditioners remote before using.

2. Bed Comforter/ Duvet

Who doesn’t like a comfy bed perfect for those long sleep hours while holidaying? What is often ignored is the fact that the bed comforter is a dirt house because every human who sleeps there, releases body oils and shed skin flakes, leaving behind thousands of bacteria. One great way to stay off the germs is to fold the bed spread and avoid usage for the entire stay.

3. Electric Switches

Another one in the list of dirty hotel spots are the electric switches in your hotel room. The room cleaning process of most hotels involves cleaning only the washrooms, bedsheets, pillow covers and the floor of the room. Since light switches are the most touched surface in a room, they are found to have heavy bacterial contamination.

4. Curtains

Most of us assume that the curtains in our hotel room are totally clean. Be aware of the fact that those heavy curtains are not washed quite often.

It must be kept in mind that an expensive hotel does not guarantee a bacteria free room. Now that you are aware of dirty hotel spots, don’t be paranoid the next time you enter a hotel room. Since most of the germs present in your hotel room won’t harm much. But it’s always best to take precautions if you want to avoid any allergic reactions from all those hidden bacteria.
