Frontline Healthcare Workers Receive Additional Benefits from US and Dubai Restaurants
The emergence of the Covid-19 crisis has affected the coming of customers at restaurants across the world even after several countries have eased restrictions. Despite undergoing a financial crunch, restaurants in the US and Dubai are coming forward to offer to support the frontline healthcare workers and general public in dire need.
Recently, Frontline Foods Chicago and the West Humboldt Park Development Council co-sponsored with Turkey Chop Gourmet Grill restaurant to provide free meals at the restaurant. With this initiative, Chef Quentin Love has successfully helped people suffering to earn enough money to buy food and has kept his employees motivated amid the crisis. Also, this move will help minimise food wastage.
Besides restaurants, food delivery service providers (like FoodKarma in Dubai) are also serving meals to frontline healthcare workers. Recently, FoodKarma and some of its partners collaborated to deliver free meals at Al Zahra Hospital, Dubai. Some restaurants that actively participated in the generous initiative include Cooloo Tamam, Dusit Thani Hotel Dubai, Katch International and Le Pain Quotidien.
Speaking about the initiative, the Founder and CEO of FoodKarma — Eugenie Dronneau said, “FoodKarma is about positivity, cooperation, and unity, with the aim of promoting good karma. Together with our food and beverage partners, we wanted to do our little bit to support the frontline workers (including, doctors, nurses, and maintenance and cleaning staff), because, during these challenging times, they put their lives at risk every day to keep us safe.”
As per Eugenie Dronneau, this effort was successfully executed with the support of FoodKarma’s partners. She added, “All of them have responded to this idea with the utmost enthusiasm and support, and we want to thank them sincerely for all their efforts! We hope to be able to organise more initiatives like this throughout the year, to help the community and those in need as much as possible.”
The Inn at Perry Cabin hotel in Maryland has also been donating thousands of free meals to hospitals and other frontline healthcare workers across Talbot County. Under a programme termed “Feed the Front”, the hotel partnered with other local establishments to feed nearly 500 frontline healthcare workers at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Centre at Easton and Talbot County Public Schools’ essential workers.
In the US, famous brew restaurant Offshore Ale collaborated with Donate a Meal MV to distribute food to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and hospice workers. For claiming the meal, hospital workers had to email to Offshore Ale giving complete details about their choice of food item, name, position at the hospital, contact number and a preferable pick up time.
By offering free meals to frontline healthcare workers amid the existing situation, these restaurants are earning goodwill and customer confidence that will help them in the long run. Since they are making meals for distribution, people can be sure that they are taking all sanitary measure while preparing and distributing the food.
