In a Compassionate Move, Qatar Airways Offers 100, 000 Free Tickets to Frontline Workers

Being the most vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic, the frontline workers all over the world are being treated with utmost respect. In order to express gratitude to 100,000 healthcare staff, Qatar Airways has planned to give complimentary roundtrip airline tickets to the saviours. The decision has been made in honour of the International Nurses Day 2020, which is celebrated every year on May 12.
The announcement was made on the Qatar Airways website as Group Chief Executive Akbar-Al-Baker said, “We at Qatar Airways are incredibly grateful for the commitment and hard work of healthcare professionals around the world who looked after people in these times of uncertainty. Their heroic display of kindness, dedication, and professionalism has saved hundreds of thousands of lives around the world.”
As part of this initiative, the selected frontline healthcare professionals can book up to two complimentary economy class roundtrip tickets to the regions where Qatar Airways flies. Also, they can avail a 35 percent discount to any Qatar Duty Free retail outlets at the Hamad International Airport, Doha.
The selected frontline healthcare professionals can book their trips till November 26. For those wanting to return home, the service can be availed immediately. For others who wish to travel for leisure after the pandemic, the airline will provide an option to save the tickets for a later date. Interested frontline workers can apply online from May 11 5:01pm ET to May 18 4:59pm.

The service is exclusively for medical practitioners, paramedics, pharmacists, clinical researchers, nurses and lab technicians. Winners, who will be announced on May 18, shall carry a valid employer ID to the airport.
Also, Qatar Airways is contributing actively to support global trade that has been hampered due to the coronavirus outbreak. For easing the supply chain, the state-owned carrier has now introduced an air bridge between France and Vietnam. With this flight, the airline will be able to deliver 2,000+ tonnes of medical items, like face masks and personal protective equipment, for supporting France in its Covid~19 fight.
Reports claim that the airline plans to expand its flights to 83 destinations by the end of June. For preparing for its future flights, Qatar Airways is using the most advanced air filtration systems, which are fully equipped with HEPA filters to remove 99.97 percent of contaminants.
