Most weird buildings

Travellers who are fans of great architecture are always on a look out for strange structures. If you are one of them, here are some of the world’s most weird buildings that you should see –

Basket Building, USA

Basket Building USA

Labelled as the world’s largest basket by the RoadsideAmerica.com, the basket building in Ohio, USA is visually appealing to the eye. Its exact imitation of a normal shopping basket makes it one of the most unique yet most weird buildings of the world. Despite being a great tourist attraction, this building was not getting suitable buyers until 2017. After being bought by developer Steve Coon and Bobby George, the basket building is all set to be turned into a luxury hotel this year.

Zayed National Museum, UAE

Zayed National Museum, UAE

Designed as a memorial to the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Zayed National Museum is a great reflection of the Emirates’ culture and history. It has five-wing shaped solar thermal towers projecting from an artificially landscaped mound. The falcon like wings, which make the museum unique, represent Zayed’s love of falconry. Currently under construction, the museum will be a perfect place for traditional poetry reading, music and dance performances once completed in 2021.

Krzywy Domek, Poland

Krzywy Domek, Poland

Another one in the list of most weird buildings is the crooked house in Poland known as the ‘Krzywy Domek’. With a cartoonish structure, this exquisite shopping centre has a special ‘Wall of Fame’ where visitors coming or cultural events put their signatures. Its blue-green enamelled shingles on the roof make it look closer to a dragon. The inspiration for this building was taken from fairy tale images and the drawings of Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg. Its twisted design surely makes it worth a visit!

Dancing House, Czech Republic

Dancing House, Czech Republic

Originally named after a pair of dancers, the Dancing House in Prague was built in a very non-conventional style. Most of the building holds offices, but a French restaurant at the roof is a must visit if you want to get a view of the city. Its curved pillars and unaligned windows give the building a different yet strange look.

Blur Building, Switzerland

The Blur Building, Switzerland

Imagine walking into a cloud through a 400-foot-long bridge! This is exactly how you can enter the ‘Blur Building’. Called as architecture of atmosphere, this building’s main construction material is water. More than 30,000 high pressure nozzles emit water vapours into the building giving a cloudy feel. A visit to this place will surely be serene as you won’t be able to hear much sound from the outside world once inside.

Bubble Palace, France

Bubble Palace, France

Owned by fashion designer Pierre Cardin, the Bubble Palace is a beautiful architectural marvel located close to Cannes, France. The palace is assembled by a bubble cluster and offers ten beautiful suits decorated by contemporary artists. Exquisite waterfalls, multiple swimming pools and an open-air amphitheatre, make this place one of its kind. Since the building is close to Cannes, there are many tourist visits at the time of the film festival. Also, it is hired for many movie premiers and big events too.
