Swiss Travel Restrictions to Disappoint Globetrotters from 29 Countries

Recent reports from the Switzerland authorities are likely to create a sense of unrest among travellers from different countries. A list released by Federal Office of Public Health yesterday claims that travellers from a total of 29 countries posing a high risk of covid-19 infection will have to go into self-isolation and quarantine for ten days. The move has been put forth to prevent a resurgence of the virus

For stricter implementation of Swiss travel restrictions, authorities have instructed all airline and coach companies not to transport sick passengers. Saudi Arabia, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, South Africa, Sweden, US, Brazil, Russia and Serbia are some of the countries that will be affected by the quarantine restrictions.

As suggested by EU’s travel safe list, Switzerland will allow travellers from all 14 countries, except Serbia. For the EU approved countries, there is no mandatory testing or quarantine upon arrival. Regular temperature scans and health screenings from board officer will still be performed at the airport.

Despite a rapid rise in coronavirus cases since mid-June, Swiss travel restrictions were eased for all European Schengen countries, including Iceland, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Latvia, Austria, UK and Liechtenstein. Sources claim that from July 20, some more countries will be added in the list.

The EU’s travel safe list will be updated every two weeks depending on the regions control over the pandemic. Currently, direct flights from almost every major city throughout the EU are being run by EasyJet, Air France, Edelweiss Air, Swiss Air, Austrian Airlines and more. Flights to third-party countries are also resuming. Edelwiss Air will be flying from Calgary to Zurich once a week in August.
